David Flower Productions, Inc. (DFP) is a full-scale production company,
owned and operated by David
Flower.
As a producer and DJ, David Flower has found nothing more exciting than
seeing the dance floor packed with people experiencing the freedom of
expression that music can provide. Staying close to the dance community
has helped him understand what really makes a night magical, and with his
background in graphic arts, he brings creative and visual excitement to
all his events.
A little history
In 1994 David Flower was working in Provincetown MA and thought the local
night-life needed something more definitive and exciting. He began
hosting the kind of dance parties preferred by a more hip and urban crowd,
infusing them with higher energy house music, nationally-known DJs, and
world-class entertainment. In the winter, David brought his talent to
Miami with gigs at top clubs such as Paragon, Amnesia, and Liquid. Four
years running, Liquid Sundays was the premier weekly gay event on South
Beach. It contributed to the popularity of DJs like Victor Calderone,
Junior Vasquez, and Danny Teneglia. It was infamous as a celebrity
hangout, with visits by Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Cher and friends. He has
run equally successful events in Boston and Providence RI, and has worked
in every aspect of production for a full gamut of audiences, from
corporate executives to the wildest of revelers.
What's happening now
David now calls Provincetown his home and, with more than a decade of
experience, he's still filling the house and winning awards. Summer Camp, which averages over 800
enthusiasts, has become a veritable P-town institution. His Independence
Week circuit party has been voted the best July 4th event on the East Coast.
He is constantly pushing the envelope for new venues including boat parties
aboard the Provincetown II Ferry and pier dances at MacMillan Wharf. He
especially enjoys the holiday parties when he
transforms the dance club into something exotic, a haunted forest, or an
icy winter wonderland.
Pride and community
David has a strong sense of community and knows that there is more to gay
life than partying. He owns and runs Insight Weekend in November, which
offers workshops on a broad range of topics to improve
your emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial well-being. He also
works with the Provincetown Business Guild and the town Planning Board to
support local businesses, encourage tourism, and sensible growth. He
hosts a dance party for the annual Holly Folly weekend in December,
participates in Carnival Week each August, and offers free admission to
town residents at his weekly dances. He regularly volunteers his
production expertise at Boston Pride and the Provincetown Theater.
